SIMON CAOUL
Top TV talent judge Simon Cowell has revealed that he wants a tougher, more grown up and less sugary sound on this year's series, which kicks off in a few weeks - inspired by people's hero Raoul Moat.
"Oh, Raoul definitely had the X Factor", Cowell said, "he was tough, he was handsome, he was charismatic, he had what we were after. I only hope there are other contestants like that, who haven't blown their own faces off".
Louis Walsh agreed: "Whenever I'm out in the street, all the girls come up to me and tell me how much they like Raoul. If he wasn't dead, he'd be batting them off with a stick! It's a real shame, I could have made him the next Jedward."
Danni Minogue is still away looking after her newborn baby, and Cheryl Cole is tragically sick with malaria, but both left messages saying how much they had also loved Moat. "Is he gay?" Danni asked, while Cheryl called him "one of mee own".
Cowell continued: "I'm sick of sugary ballads, sob stories and wet winners. If this year's winner wants a real chance of becoming a lasting performing artist and selling records all over the world like Leona Lewis, then we need an angry, steroid addled, red faced doorman with a gun and a grudge to get up on that stage".
